STRIVING

  • JUN-ICHI INOUE (1948-2009)
  • ERECTED 1990
  • At the corner of Skandsen and Maglehøjvej,
close to A/S Mertz machine suppliers.

Jun-Ichi Inoue was born in Japan in 1948 and died in Denmark in 2009. He was married to a Dane.

He was educated both at The National Academy of Arts in Tokyo and at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. Inoue created big granite sculptures, mixing geometric and organic shapes. Japanese inspiration shows clearly in his disciplined use of the granite in combination with elements from the Japanese garden, e.g. water. (Source: Weilbach’s Artists Lexicon).
